Who we are

In 1906, Sarah Leeds, of the famed Leeds hoteliers, attended the Women’s Congress in Washington D.C. She returned with many progressive ideas, including the desire to provide childcare for the women working in her family’s hotels, many of whom were “widowed or abandoned.”

Since her vision became a reality, the Day Nursery has existed at three different locations, including its current address on North Boston, which was built by Steve Wynn who acquired the Day Nursery’s previous, beachfront property to build the original Golden Nugget.

The ACDN board of directors remains committed to Leeds’ vision. We believe every child is unique, beautiful, and full of potential. We also believe women thrive when they support one another.
